- 12 Oct 2012
The automobile has evolved from steam, to internal combustion, then to hybrid engine combinations... from direct drive to 8-speed transmissions... from powerful V8's to twin turbo V6 torque monsters. One can only dream of what is to come in the future for the automobile. As for now however, we'll have to stick to the automobile conventions for new technology updates.
The 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 Ford F150 can be equipped with a twin-turbo 3.5 liter V6 engine that produces 365 horsepower and 420 lb./ft. of torque. This V6 powerplant can be compared to most V8 engines offered by other pick-up manufactures. K&N, a California based reusable air filter manufacturer, spent some quality time developing an air intake system that was tuned specifically for 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 Ford F150 3.5 liter Eco Boost models. This air intake, part number 57-2583, includes a free flowing intake tube, K&N high flow air filter and custom heat shield. K&N power testing showed an estimated gain of 11 horsepower at 4318 RPM and 17 lb./ft. of torque at 3450 RPM. This air intake system attaches to the existing OEM mass air flow sensor and EVAP vent line. Detailed installation instructions are included with the air intake kit for easy installation. Any power hungry pick-up lover can certainly appreciate the extra performance they'll get with K&N air intake 57-2583.
