AFT Customs Cimeron Honda CB750-836 Streetfighter is Turning Heads
- 5 May 2016
Jim Giuffra and the team at AFT Customs are pioneers and leading innovators of the custom metric motorcycle industry. Since 1987, they have been building motorcycles that “will be popular 5 years from now, not bikes that were popular 5 years ago,” as Jim said it. Their nearly 30 years in the industry, expertise in custom welding and metal work, and a performance-oriented mindset with classic styling and modern functionality mean that when you see an AFT Customs motorcycle, you look twice. Do yourself a favor and do more than just glance twice. Take a long look, examine every detail, and appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship that go into every AFT Customs build, including the Cimeron.
The CB750 streetfighter recipe has been done before- many-a-time. The Cimeron isn’t your average CB streetfighter, though. Suspension duties are handled by a Yamaha R1 superbike front end and RaceTech G3-S rear monoshock. The motor has been bored out and fitted with a Wiseco Piston big bore kit bringing the displacement to 836cc. Twin Kehin carburetors feed the beast the clean air it needs through a custom-made K&N air filter. Beringer brakes are fitted front and rear inside custom Glenndyne wheels and Avon tires. Take all these performance parts, fit them together with classic styling and a beautiful blue, red, and carbon fiber aesthetic and you have a streetfighter that stands out from the crowd.
Finish work and attention to detail is where the Cimeron truly shines- cables custom-made to length, a clear brake fluid line serving as the reservoir, rear suspension adjustment peeking through the seat, the Motogadget speedometer flush-fit into the top riser, and an AFT Customs hydraulic clutch built specifically for the CB750 SOHC motor. The Cimeron is the ideal example of synergy – the end result being something greater than the sum of its parts.
When asked about why Jim and AFT Customs decided to put a K&N air filter on the Cimeron, Jim replied, "I remember using K&N products in the early ‘80s. The quality is something I can risk my reputation with." Jim and the guys are in the process of finishing up a VTX1300 for a customer so look out for that bike to make waves in the metric community sometime in 2016. Oh, and if you’re interested, the Cimeron is for sale. Send Jim a message at aftcustoms.com and say K&N sent you. Jim Giuffra and AFT Customs are quoted as saying “No job is too small. We can customize your motorcycle or build you one from the ground up.” With 30+ years’ experience and beautiful examples such as the Cimeron, AFT Customs continues to be a leading innovator of the custom metric motorcycle industry. |
