California Spint Car Civil War Series Victory Family Dream for K&N Sponsored Racer
- 11 Aug 2009
The California Civil War Sprint Car Racing Series made its one and only appearance of the 2009 Sprint Car season on the half-mile oval at Calistoga Speedway in Calistoga, California.
Andy Forsberg wins race in the Civil War Series at Calistoga, California. Now he is part of the first father and son due to win main events on the half mile track in California's wine country.
The race turned into a family dream come true for A&A Motorsports. Richard Forsberg won at the track in the 1970s. This weekend, his son, K&N sponsored racer Andy Forsberg won. They became the first father, son due to win main events at Calistoga.
The emotional victory for the team started with hope when Andy Forsberg won the heat race. He placed in the front of the field in the main event and took a straight away lead. Forsberg survived two race cautions and then charged to his first career win at the track.
Richard Forsberg was finally able to pass on a belt buckle from his win in the 70s to his son. He wore it at every event at Calistoga waiting for the opportunity to pass on his legacy. “It was emotional for the entire team,” said Candice Forsberg, Andy’s mother. “It was Andy’s lifelong dream to win at Calistoga for his dad and it finally happened. We would like to thank all of our sponsors who helped make winning at Calistoga a reality.”
A&A Motorsports uses K&N products. “We would never use anything but K&N on our sprint cars,” said Forsberg. “K&N air and oil filters are easy to use and maintain. They also protect our engines from track debris and give us additional power and filtration.”
A&A Motorsports will next race in Placerville, California.
