Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra HD pickups with a Duramax LML Diesel V8 Can Gain Horsepower and Torque
- 13 Jun 2014
2011 marked significant changes for the Isuzu designed Duramax diesel engine used in the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 / 3500 HD pickups. General Motors made changes to enhance durability, lower emissions, and at the same time increase power output. This latest generation of the Duramax diesel received the engine code LML and replaced the outgoing LMM engine. While GM did their homework to produce a solid engine for their heavy-duty line of pickups, K&N engineers saw the potential for even more improvement.
K&N 77-3077KP Performance Air Intake System is expert-engineered and guaranteed to increase horsepower and torque. It replaces the restrictive factory system with a free-flowing, mandrel bent aluminum air intake tube to help minimize restriction, straighten, and increase airflow to the engine. The mandrel bent aluminum intake tube is finished with a chrome-like appearance for a custom look under the hood. The 77-3077KP incorporates a heat shield which helps guard air entering the engine from ambient heat.
Diesels pickups are operated in highly demanding environments, and because of this Air intake system, part number 77-3077KP, includes K&N’s RC-5179 conical air filter fitted to the inlet of the air intake system. K&N’s RC-5179 incorporates an extra special weave of cotton gauze, 6 layers thick, pressed between our wire mesh, then formed into deep 1-1/4” pleats. These extreme duty filters provide excellent airflow rates as well as outstanding filtration efficiency. RC-5179 is washable and reusable and can go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions. Use of a K&N Recharger Kit, number 99-5000 or 99-5050, is recommended when it comes time to clean RC-5179.
K&N Performance Air Intake Systems are designed to perform as good as they look. The K&N 77-3077KP air intake system puts down impressive performance gains in horsepower and torque. On the dyno, when installed on a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD 6.6 liter V8 diesel, the 77-3077KP air intake system produced an estimated additional 12.19 horsepower at 2850 rpm and an impressive 24.71 pound-feet of torque at 2346 rpm. The 77-3077KP Performance Air Intake System is an easy to install performance upgrade that can be installed in about 90 minutes or less using basic hand tools, and by following K&N’s simple step-by-step instructions. It maintains all necessary factory connections and does not require any additional modifications be made to the vehicle. K&N backs the 77-3077KP air intake system with the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty so owners can rest assured that their intake system will stand up to tough conditions. 2011 to 2014 Chevy or GMC Duramax diesel owners can rely on the K&N 77-3077KP air intake system to provide durable and reliable increased performance for years to come. Performance Air Intake System, 77-3077KP, is guaranteed to increase horsepower and torque on the Chevrolet and GMC models listed below:
