Chris Ferguson Gets Wins and Second at Southern Allstars East Series Event
- 29 Jul 2010
Ferguson once again was rolling in the runner-up position until with about ten laps to go, he turned up the heat, and smoked by Chris Madden to take the lead. This was Ferguson's first major victory of 2010. "Fortunately it's a lot easier running second than first," remarked Ferguson. "When you are running second, you are able to move around on the track, and determine whether you're faster, or slower by judging off the leader. When I was behind Madden I started working the bottom of the track. Ten laps later it finally came in and I blasted by him." "It feels great to finally get a major victory this year. The caliber of drivers out there was unbelievable, and for us to outrun them was an awesome feeling. I feel like the wins will start clicking a whole lot easier now that we got the first one out of the way." The next day the team visited the Saturday Night Carolina Clash series race which was held at Fayetteville Speedway. Fayetteville has been a successful place for Ferguson, but has also brought the young racer some bad luck. On this evening the bad luck gremlin once again crept into Fergy's ride. He was passing a lap car on the outside, down the front stretch, the slower car made a right turn into his left front tire, causing Fergy to contact the wall. Ferguson managed to recover and was able to bring home another solid finish in second place. "I knew that after qualifying on the pole by two-tenths, we had the car to beat. The race had a lot of cautions, so I never really got the chance to show exactly how good we were." "That last restart really messed us up because it bunched the field back up, and as soon as the lap car tagged us, second place was right there to capitalize on it. It should have been a weekend sweep for us, but sometimes things happen that you can't control. Second isn't really that bad though." The Dirt Late Model team now has their eyes squarely set on the famous "Dream" at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio where Chris Ferguson Motorsports is hoping to have a good showing, and make the main event for their first time. "I feel really good going into the ‘Dream' now that we have had some really strong runs," remarked Ferguson. "The competition up there is unmatched, but our equipment is definitely up to the task, and I feel like we will have a great showing." "I just want to thank K&N Filters for all the continued help and support to my race team. We couldn't ask for better."
