Defending Grand Prix Champion After the Big Bucks in World Speedway Chase
- 19 Sept 2007
The penultimate round of the 2007 World Speedway Grand Prix Championship takes
place at Krsko in Slovenia next Saturday evening. Australian Jason Crump is
aiming for the top spot on the podium.
Crump finished second at this event last year, and wants to hit top form as the season draws to a close. A win for the double World Champion would be a huge confidence boost in preparation of the 100th Grand Prix in Germany on October 13th. There is $100,000.00 prize purse in US dollars at stake in Germany.
“Mathematically I cannot be World Champion this year,” said the 32-year-old Queenslander. “I have accepted that and already plans are in place for next year’s championship. Despite the technical problems we had this year, I never worried about K&N products. Our K&N Filters kept the dirt out of our engines. Right now, my focus is on coming out with all guns blazing.”
After 8 rounds Crump is in third place in Grand Prix point standings. “I need to win races, win the Grand Prix and then go to the final round in Germany full of confidence. My intention is to bring $100,000.00 home with me. There is no mistake, I will be after the loot.”
