FAST 16 Top Dragster Class Near Denver, Colorado Big Score for K&N Racer
- 12 Jun 2007
David Oenes cinched a victory in the Purifoy Chevrolet Fast 16 Top Dragster
Class over the weekend near Denver, Colorado at Bandimere Speedway. It is one of
the fastest racing series in the Rocky Mountains where cars show off an amazing
display of horsepower and speed as drivers reach speeds up to 210 mph.
“It was probably the hardest victory I have ever won,” said Oenes. “In the first round I beat our local champion. In the second round I beat Jamie Schwartzkof, a member of the Wyoming Ethanol Team. I continued to win in the semis and in the final. Every person I raced is a good driver. It was awesome to get the victory.”
Oenes drives a 2006 dragster with a 526 cubic inch Chrysler aluminum Hemi. It is equipped with K&N Engineering products. “My engine works better than ever with K&N,” he said. “K&N’s HP-5001 Premium Oil Filter has thick canister walls for extra strength and durability. Those walls reduce the risk of damage from loose rocks and debris.”
The 34-year-old Henderson, Colorado resident has raced for 18 years and said he starting dreaming about racing when he was only 6-years-old. Oenes was pitted next to K&N Engineering’s Process Design Engineer and Racer Jonathan Fiello in the 2006 Mike’s Transmission Top Dragster Series Race at Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I met David and his family at the track and he is a good racer,” said Fiello. “He was the number one qualifier in the top dragster class that day. He also had a lot of questions about K&N and we stayed in touch. I recommended him for a support sponsorship and he was accepted. He is a good ambassador for K&N.”
