The Monroe, Washington race started off the 2008 AMA Supermoto season. The Rockstar H&H Team riders are Steve Drew, Travis Marks and Doni Wanat in the Unlimited Class with Tony Hart in the 250 Lite Class. Cary Hart and Doni Wanat will ride selected rounds of the 450 Premier Supermoto Class this season.
“The whole weekend we were riding great,” said Team Manager Kenny Watson. “We knew that we had a shot at the podium and a potential win after the promoters practice with the fast lap times posted by our riders.”
Steve Drew lived up to the time posted in practice and won his heat race and the main event. Drew led all the laps except one, which was led by teammate Travis Marks. Drew’s win was Rockstar Energy/Hart & Huntington’s first win in the series. He is now considered to be one of the top candidates to win a championship. Marks almost made it a double podium for the team but a flat tire took him out of contention. Wanat finished the main event at seventh.
The team uses K&N Engineering products. “It’s important to have the best products on our bikes,” said Drew. “K&N filters are hands down the best. It’s all the pieces together that make a great bike and when you are dealing with motors and carburetion, you have to have the best filters protecting your motor. K&N also gives us performance.”
The Rockstar Energy H&H Team will compete at the X Games August 1-2 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. The XTRM/AMA Supermoto Series will continue at the New England Supermoto Classic in Hartford, Connecticut on August 9.
