K&N Air Intake Boosts Horsepower & Torque of 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Chevy Malibu 2.5L Engine
- 1 Dec 2014
The latest generation Chevy Malibu sedan debuted in 2013 with an all-new global platform. The GM Epsilon II platform is used in various other Opel, Saab, Buick and Cadillac models. The standard engine for 2013-2016 Chevy Malibu LS, 1LT, and 2LT models is the 2.5-liter DOHC inline-four cylinder engine capable of producing 196 horsepower and an EPA estimated 36 MPG. A four-cylinder engine capable of 196 horsepower and 36 MPG is pretty good. However, that doesn’t mean that owners of 2013-2016 Chevy Malibu LS, 1LT, and 2LT models with the 2.5L engine don’t want to add a little more get up and go to their car. By simply reducing air intake restriction the 2013-2016 Chevy Malibu 2.5L can perform better and accelerate quicker. Replacing the maze of factory air intake tubes, stock air filter box, and disposable car air filters with a K&N intake system for the 2013-2016 Chevy Malibu 2.5L will result in more horsepower and torque.
The K&N short ram intake system for 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Chevy Malibu LS, 1LT, and 2LT models with the 2.5L engine is precision-engineered to be a simple-to-install performance add-on. The backbone of this intake system is a free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube which helps to minimize restriction, allowing your engine to breathe easier. A durable silver color powder coat finish is applied to the tube, providing an attractive appearance under the hood that will look great for years to come.
K&N equips the 2013-2016 Chevy Malibu LS, 1LT, and 2LT 2.5L short ram intake with the oversized RU-4960 reusable air filter, providing a large surface to help increase airflow while providing outstanding engine protection. This washable air filter is made with K&N’s famous high-flow air filter media so it’s washable and reusable and can go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions. To top it all off, a heat shield shrouds the air filter under the hood, helping to deflect engine heat away from incoming air. All of the design features of the 2013-2016 Chevy Malibu LS, 1LT, and 2LT 2.5L short ram intake system work in harmony to deliver increased performance. On the dyno, 69-4529TS produced an estimated additional 8.24 horsepower at 6321 rpm and a very useful 11.13 pound-feet of torque at a low 3979 rpm over the factory air filter box, and air intake tubes system when installed on a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu 2.5L. This is over a 5-percent gain in horsepower, and 8-percent gain in torque just from a bolt-on upgrade. This short ram intake system is an excellent upgrade for 2013-2016 Chevy Malibu LS, 1LT, and 2LT 2.5L models. With simple to follow instructions and no need to make any other modifications to the vehicle, you’ll be on the road in approximately 90 minutes with more horsepower under your right foot. If all that weren’t enough, K&N backs its short ram air intake systems with the industry-leading K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty®. If you’re looking to add a little get up and go to 2013-2016 Chevy Malibu LS, 1LT, and 2LT 2.5L, look no further than a K&N Typhoon short ram intake system. K&N Air Intake System 69-4529TS is designed to provide a lifetime of increased power on the following Malibu models:
