K&N Frees Up 15 + Additional Horsepower for Ford Mustang GT
- 30 May 2006
For 40 years, the Mustang has been a part of American car history. The 2005 and 2006 Mustang GT is a muscle car with a clean contemporary design that sports a 300 horsepower, 4.6 liter V8 engine.
By replacing your factory air intake assembly for this car with K&N Engineering's Generation II 57-Series Fuel Injection Performance Kit (57-2565) your engine can see an additional 15.26 horsepower gain at 6000 RPM. K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten air flow. This allows your vehicle's engine more air and this means more power and acceleration throughout the engine's RPM range.
The 2005 V8 Mustang GT 4.6L V8 F/1 was one of the first vehicles that had a Hydrocarbon trap. K&N engineers were able to use the Hydrocarbon trap and stock air box to make an intake kit with a special adaptor. "The car's ability to pass a smog test was the biggest challenge with the Hydrocarbon trap," said K&N Performance Kit Manager Bert Heck. "We designed a special adaptor to allow consumers to obtain a Carb EO number."
With the addition of the 57- Series FIPK kit there it is not necessary to reprogram the Mustang's computer to benefit from the power gain, said Heck. "It's a big bonus," he said. K&N's FIPK can be installed in 90 minutes or less with common hand tools.
The key to the success of the FIPK kit is its K&N High-Flow Air Filter. K&N's High-Flow Air Filters are reusable, with cleaning and re-oiling suggested about every 100,000 miles, depending on driving conditions, while using a K&N cleaning kit. All K&N High-Flow Intake Kits are backed by the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.
