The K&N YA-1015 is a direct replacement air filter that requires no mapping or fuel injection modification. While the YA-1015 is designed for street use, it is still engineered to provide increased horsepower and torque.

The pleated cotton gauze media in the YA-1015 features a large filtration area to provide more airflow to the R1’s thirsty inline four cylinder power-plant. That increase in air can result in crisper throttle response and enhanced overall performance. Of course, performance results will vary by application and specific motorcycle.

On the street, performance is not the only goal. The YA-1015 offers top-notch filtration. The multiple layers of oil-impregnated filter media provide effective and reliable engine protection.

If your Yamaha R1 is used as a full race bike or a track-day mount, the YA-1015R is your top performance option. The YA-1015R has just two layers of cotton to provide even lower air restriction than its street-oriented brother.

The YA-1015R is designed for racing and track applications, and is not for street use. Unlike K&N’s direct-replacement filter elements, fuel management modifications will be necessary with this racing filter. However, when combined with mapping changes, the YA-1015R will help you get the most out of your competition R1.

While this is a closed course only filter, it still features K&N’s legendary washability and reusability making it a long-term performance enhancement for the R1.
