It was Williams first win in his new 1963 Super Gas Corvette. “It comes down to having a great race car,” he said. “I tell people all the time my cars would win a lot of races without me.”

Williams worked his way through six rounds, working his way into the final round where he met up with current top-10 driver Val Torres Jr. in another 1963 Corvette. Williams won by 0:0048 seconds or approximately 14 inches at the other end.
“It moved us into the top 20 nationally and also gives us a chance to finish in the top 10 in Super Gas Series points,” said Williams. “I raced Val Torres Junior earlier this year in Super Comp at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It was my turn to win at Bakersfield. Overall, it was a good race day.”
Williams has raced and won the past three years at Auto Club Famoso Raceway. In 2007 and 2008 he won there in Super Comp. K&N provides Williams with the opportunity and support equipment for racing. He also manages to balance a corporate work schedule with a race schedule.
K&N is Williams primary sponsor, which allows him to develop products born out of racing for K&N customers. “It is an honor to work for a performance company that believes in its products and supports both professional and semi-professional racing of all kinds,” he said. “What we use on my cars is in a constant state of evolution. K&N has a long history of experience, combined with first-hand knowledge that goes into every product sold.”
Williams next race will be in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Division 6 at Champion Raceway in Medford, Oregon.
