Partridge wins K&N Pro Series West Finale at Roseville, Second in Series
- 25 Oct 2016
Partridge won the Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts 150, his third win of the season, and was second to Gilliland in the K&N Pro Series West standings. Partridge finished 13 points behind Gilliland, who was eighth in the K&N Pro Series race at Roseville. Partridge had 10 top-five and 13 top 10 finishes in 14 races in the K&N Pro Series West. “I’m absolutely ecstatic,” Partridge said. “I know we didn’t win the championship, but we ended up on top in the last race.”
“It was tough with the rain, sliding around,” Partridge said. “I was the one out front, so I was the one finding all the water first. It was a lot of run though. Me and Todd had a couple of real good battles, got into each other a couple of times.” Partridge led the first 151 laps of the race. A caution on lap 147, the seventh of the race, set up a green-white-checkered finish. Eggleston, who took the lead briefly on lap 152 after the final restart, battled Partridge to the checkered flag.
Eggleston held on for second place. Bill McAnally Racing teammate Julia Landauer was third. Noah Gragson was fourth and Nicole Behar was fifth. Even though Partridge fell short of winning the K&N Pro Series West championship, he wanted to end the season on a high note. He hinted that this might be the last season for his Sunrise Ford Racing team in the K&N Pro Series West.
Gilliland not only won the K&N Pro Series West championship, he is also the Sunoco Rookie of the Year. We had an amazing season. To have six wins out of 14 races in my rookie season is amazing, better than anything we ever expected. Definitely couldn’t be happier with the night. | |||||
