Summer X Games 14 is Big Prize for Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 1X Driver
- 10 Jun 2008
The fifth round of the Rally America National Series, Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally was tough for driver Andrew Comrie-Picard. A plastic fan plug came loose after a rough landing early in the Pennsylvania event and his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 1X engine overheated.

Comrie-Picard’s crew repaired the problem, but the stress on the motor was too much and it blew on day two. “It’s frustrating,” said Comrie-Picard. “It cost us a finish, but this rally was difficult for everybody. The good news is we’re still leading in the standings.”

The factory-backed Subaru Rally Team USA also had a bad weekend. They are Comrie-Picard’s main points rivals and drew a pair of DNF’s (did not finish) in their new competition cars. This means the three positions in the Rally America Championship Series were unchanged with Comrie-Picard ahead of Subaru Rally Team USA by one point. As the lead driver Comrie-Picard will make a guaranteed return trip to the invitation only X Games.
Only the top drivers receive invitations to the high-profile X Games in Los Angeles, California this summer. It will be Comrie-Picard’s third trip.
“We couldn’t have achieved our results so far this season without the support of K&N Engineering,” said Comrie-Picard. “For us to be leading the U.S. championship ahead of the Subaru factory is an accomplishment we can all be proud of. K&N has been our choice for a decade. We work in a high-dust, high speed environment and K&N keeps contaminants out of our engine.”
This summer’s X Games 14 will be broadcast live on ESPN and ABC. “Experience is an asset at the X Games,” said Comrie-Picard. “There are so many talented athletes from around the world excelling at the most extreme sports there are. We are thrilled to be back in 2008.”
