Team Suzuki City Right on Track Developing Winning Supercross and Motocross Racers
- 16 Dec 2009
Suzuki City located in Biloxi, Mississippi, isn't a place to pull up stakes and move to, it's the top Suzuki dealership in south Mississippi. And, Mike Nasakaitis isn't the major; he's the knowledgeable and well-respected owner. Suzuki City is a family owned and operated dealership. They have been in business for 24 years, operating as a single line Suzuki franchise.
Team Suzuki City got its start three years ago. It was originally intended to give Cole Gress' (Suzuki's Motocross Support Manager) riders a place to graduate from the amateur ranks.
"This past season had its ups and downs. Our Supercross program went great, we had a rider in the top ten at every round, and we were one of only three teams to do so. We finished with two riders in the top ten in points at the end of the season," says Nasakaitis.
"In our motocross program, we started out with our 250cc rider, Steven Clarke, riding injured. Although he battled throughout the season with a knee injury, he still managed to capture the top privateer honors."
"Our 450cc rider, Matt Goerke, started off great and by the third round he was in position to be in the top five in points. However, he broke his leg and missed the next five rounds. We had Jarred Browne fill in for him at the last minute. And by Washougal, he too was up to speed, finishing in the top five and grabbing the recovery award for the weekend," adds Nasakaitis.
For 2010 Team Suzuki City have Matt Lemoine, Darryn Durham, and Steven Clarke ready to ride. Darryn is coming off a freshman season that had some ups and downs. He is nevertheless, really looking forward to showing everyone what he is truly capable of achieving on the track.
Matt Lemoine also had somewhat of a peaks and valley season. Lemoine put himself in position for some really stellar finishes, but unfortunately suffered from some bad luck. Steven Clarke is healed up and back training on his bike. He is getting a little later start due to an off season injury, but he is very much looking forward to improving on his rookie season finishes in 2010.
"Since the beginning we have used K&N products. Johnny Jump and the rest of the team there have really been committed to us. We run both air and oil filters. Not having to worry about the reliability of the air filter is great, no matter what the conditions, the filter has never let us down. Plus, the fact that it adds horsepower just by installing it – that is just incredible."
"We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with K&N for as long as they will have us," concludes Nasakaitis.
