Topkick and Kodiak Diesels Get More Horsepower and Torque with K&N Air Intake System
- 19 Jun 2007
General Motors has a line of medium duty trucks which include the Topkick and
the Kodiak. Both diesels are used as a base for vehicles that require powerful
torque and high towing capacity. They are also available as aftermarket
coachbuilders as pickup trucks and commercial trucks.
K&N Engineering has designed a new 77-Series Performance Air Intake System (77-3064KTK) in textured black for the 2006 GMC Topkick and 2006 Chevrolet Kodiak. K&N dynamometer test show a horsepower gain of 10.01 @ 2944 RPM for this air intake.
K&N replaces the original intake assembly with an all-new air intake design. The new system draws air from under the OE fresh air inlet through a K&N High-Flow Air Filter (RC-5165) that never needs to be replaced.
A powder coated steel heat shield mounts in place of the stock airbox and protects the chrome top cone shaped K&N air filter from engine heat. Air travels through a black textured powder coated aluminum tube and a 90-degree angled silicone hose that is attached to the throttle body.
It takes less than 90 minutes to install this cold air intake with simple hand tools. K&N Performance Intake Systems are designed to improve engine performance along with under the hood visual appeal.
Applications are as follows:
2006 GMC TOPKICK CK5500 6.6L V8 DSL
2006 GMC TOPKICK CK4500 6.6L V8 DSL
2006 CHEVROLET KODIAK CK5500 6.6L V8 DSL
