Travis Kvapil Readies for NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race at Gateway Raceway
- 29 Aug 2007
Travis Kvapil will make his fifth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start in the No.
6 K&N Filters Ford F-150 at Gateway International Raceway on Saturday.
Kvapil is currently third in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points, 256 markers behind point leader Mike Skinner.
Late race contact with Kyle Busch dropped Kvapil from contending the win to an 11th place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee. It was the first time in nine races that Kvapil finished outside the top 10.
“Gateway is a very unique racetrack,” said Kvapil. “It’s probably the track that we go to that I’ve got the most laps on. I’ve been racing there since 1997 in late models. I like the layout of the track. It’s flat and sweeping at one end, tight and banked at the other. “You’ve got to find a compromise with the setup to get around the place.”
In four races at Gateway, Kvapil has three top-10 finishes. “Gateway is a challenging racetrack,” said No.6 K&N Filters Team Crew Chief Mike Beam. “It takes a well-balanced truck to get around there. Travis has done really well there in the past and we feel like we’re up to the challenge.”
The 17th NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race takes place September 1 at 5:30 pm EST. SPEED TV will cover the event.
