It is a league of awe inspiring behemoth full sized diesel trucks, ominous smoke
belching 10 thousand pound stock tractors and various classes that compete for
valuable points. The 2006 Lucas Oil Professional Pulling League has wrapped up
and is preparing for a spring 2007 launch.
One of the goals of the Pro Pulling League (PPL) is to elevate the sport of
professional and sportsman truck and tractor pulling to a new level to
accommodate the pulling faithful. The League is a concerted effort by Lucas Oil
Products, K&N Engineering and other business partners.

Competitors in the PPL must have a functional K&N Air Filter or a K&N
Performance Gold Oil Filter on their vehicle of choice. “K&N makes good high
quality filters,” said Pro Pulling League Director John Lucas. “The way K&N

2006 “Pro Puller of the Year” Jared Nelson drives a 2004 Chevy with a 572 cubic-
inch engine. It is a two-wheel-drive funny truck that weighs 6200 pounds. “I
compete against the toughest guys in the Super Modified Two-Wheel Drive Truck
Class,” said Nelson. “It’s all about balance, and about knowing your dirt and
your track.”

The supercharged truck set prepare for months. Competitors are hooked up
to a weight transfer also known as a sled. The box and the pan are the two major
components of the sled. The box is chain driven using the wheels. Inside the
box are multiple lead blocks weighing a ton. “It starts out easy but as we reach
the end of the 300 foot track more weight transfers to the front of the sled,”
said Nelson. “Your tires really dig into the track.”

Jared Nelson’s younger brother, Jordan Nelson earned the Lucas Oil/MAPA Dixie
Chopper Division Championship in 2006. Machines in his division use blown
(supercharged) and injected engines with methanol for fuel. The engine power is
transmitted to the ground in a style that leads to towering wheel stands.
Pro Stock Tractors are for the die-hard pulling enthusiast. Engines can be built
to a maximum of 680 cubic inches in displacement and are fed by a combination of
diesel fuel and water injection. Bill Leischner and Joe Eder had the most points
in Super Modified Tractor in 2006.
In tractor pulling the concept is based on who can pull the sled the farthest on
a 300 foot long dirt track. The boundaries consist of two white lines on each
side. If a competitor touches the line, they are disqualified. There is only one
chance to make a pull and that distance is measured. If more than one person
passes 300 feet there is a “Pull Off.”
The Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League sanctioned organization ended the 2006 season
with record points payouts. Selected events from the Champions Tour can be seen
on ESPN2, The Outdoor Channel and the Speed Channel.

(57-0620) for the 2003 through 2009 Audi A3 1.6L L4 engine with 102 BHP. This kit is
made to fit this specific application to create bolt-on horsepower right out of

Air Intake for some Volkswagen, Skoda, Seat and Audi
The kit contains a molded intake tube that replaces the complete intake
track from the original air box to the throttle body. "An oval shaped K&N Filter
is placed on the open end of the intake tube," said Adriaans. "The filter is
positioned far away from the engine in order to prevent hot air from entering
the Intake System. To achieve maximum horsepower gains, it is necessary to pick
up the coolest air possible. Cool air is denser than warm air."
A silicone hose is included to replace the vent hoses of the stock intake
system.
K&N's 57i Series Induction Kits are easy to assemble with simple hand tools.
"Simply remove the stock air box, install the molded
intake tube with filter and connect the adaptors to the factory breather and
vacuum tubes," said Adriaans.
"K&N also provides a stabilizer with brackets," said K&N Accessories and
International Product Manager Dwayne Richardson. "As the motor torques the
stabilizers flex with the motor to keep the K&N Intake Kit, 57-0620,
in place."
All adaptors are made from high quality materials such as steel, aluminum,
silicone or reinforced nylon to ensure long life.
The Isuzu Rodeo offered SUV shoppers a variety of options in the 2004 model.
There was a new 3.5L V6 engine, new sound packaging and a tire-pressure
monitoring system.

Testing on K&N's
dynamometer showed a 7.68 horsepower gain @ 4775 RPM. The mandrel-bent, free
flowing polished aluminum tube mounts to the throttle body then goes over the fender well placing the K&N Air Filter in a position away from engine heat.
