World of Outlaws Donny Schatz Career Best Season Continues

World of Outlaws Donny Schatz added a new chapter to a career-best season at Knoxville Raceway by picking up a career WoO “A” Feature. It was the same track where he captured the sports biggest race, the Super Clean Knoxville Nationals.

Schatz raced his No. 15 ParkerStore J&J with Shaver power into the lead on the 16th lap to capture his 15th “A” Feature victory of the season and 17th Outlaws triumph in 2006.

“I’m happy to get back to victory lane,” said Schatz. “It doesn’t matter if we win five or fifteen. We try to win as many as we can and get this championship locked up.” Schatz has 8 more wins than the next highest winner in 2006, and has a 311 point lead with only five nights of races remaining.

“We’ve been greedy all season trying to win as much as we could,” he said. “This team felt like we might have had a chance for $50,000 at the last race but the rain came and ended it 14 laps short of 40. The ParkerStore Team has been working hard all season and winning this race was a testament to their efforts.”

Schatz and most of the other competitors had a difficult time figuring out what the surface was going to do in the 25-lap feature. The event was a make-up race originally scheduled for April. It also included the Knoxville Raceway Season Championship Feature.

With the number of races that took place, most felt the track would take rubber and primarily be a one-lane groove. The ParkerStore crew bolted on a pair of tires that were harder compounds anticipating the rubber-down surface.

Schatz and the ParkerStore Team use K&N Engineering products. “K&N builds a superior product,” he said. “The K&N Airbox works flawlessly and we are able to attain maximum horsepower.

All of the competitors were hugging the bottom so Schatz tried to make the high line work. In turns one and two, he lost ground, but in three and four the cushion worked to his advantage. He used the high line to pass both Randy Hannagan and Craig Dollansky on lap 16 to take the lead. Once in front, Schatz worked his way through lapped traffic and picked up his 50th career World of Outlaws “A” Feature.

“I didn’t really expect that. When you get out of line you are taking too many chances. I don’t know if the rubber started to go away or what, but we were able to get around the top in turns three and four. I tried it in one and two and lost a lot of ground, but the other end was great. That’s what won us the race. I got back down there in the rubber and was able to keep going up there and get passed some lapped cars. It was good for us.”

K&N Engineering has developed a 57i Series Air Intake Kit (57-0655) for the 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 Fiat Grande Punto 1.4L L4 and the 2005 to 2010 Fiat Grande Punto 1.2L L4 and the 2007 to 2015 Fiat 500 1.2L L4 and 2009 to 2016 Ford KA 1.2L.

"This K&N Kit (57-0655) is very easy to install," said K&N Air Filter Project Manager Joost Adriaans. "The filter bolts directly onto the throttle body. A vent hose is connected to the base of the filter with a vent adaptor."

The cold air hose is typical for most K&N 57i kits. "It is a flexible hose that is attached to the front (usually the grill) of the car," said Adriaans. "While in motion, the hose feeds cold air to the filter for maximum performance."

Each K&N 57i Series Kit is designed to provide power throughout the RPM range. "The 1.2 liter tests show around a 3 BHP gain," said Ian Burdis of K&N Filters (Europe) Ltd. "The 1.4 liter dyno tests show around a 4 BHP gain with the 57-0655."

K&N Engineering has developed three Custom Air Filter Assemblies (RK-3918) (RK-3928) and (RK-3908) for the 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 Kawasaki VN2000 Vulcan, the 2006 and 2007 Kawasaki VN2000 Vulcan Classic, the 2006 Kawasaki VN2000 Vulcan limited and the 2006, 2007 Kawasaki VN2000 Vulcan Classic LT.

"With the addition of the RK-3918, the RK-3928 and the RK-3908 there is an instant performance increase over the stock system," said K&N Powersports Business Manager Dennis Mahan. "The RK-3918 adds a custom look with the billet outer cover that is ball grooved. The RK-3928 is chrome plated with a flame design, and the RK-3908 is luster polished and chrome plated with a mirror finish."

The custom assemblies' overall size is greatly increased to allow more air flow improving acceleration and service intervals. "It's been tested, adjusted and tuned at K&N," said Mahan. "This K&N Assembly has a velocity stack in it to breathe better."

The K&N Replacement Filter (E-3017), which is included in this assembly, is designed to be cleaned at approximately 25,000 miles. K&N Motorcycle Filters are washable and reusable.

Installation is very easy and should take between 45 to 60 minutes from start to finish. Due to the high volume of air intake it may be necessary to remap the fuel management system for optimum performance.

For added protection in wet riding there is a K&N Air Filter Wrap (E-3016DK) Accessory available for the Custom Assembly.

Add 7+ Horsepower to the 2005 to 2008 Toyota 4Runner with K&N

K&N Engineering has designed a 77-Series High-Flow Performance Kit (77-9029KP) for the 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 Toyota 4Runner 4.7L V8.

Designed to improve airflow to the engine, testing on K&N's dynamometer showed a 7.38 horsepower gain @ 5270 RPM. "The mandrel-bent, free flowing, one-piece polished aluminum tube will mount to the throttle body," said K&N Peformance Kit Technical Development Supervisor Kirk Swanson. "The K&N Kit (77-9029KP) goes over to the fender well and mounts to the filter on the other end."

A steel heatshield, finished in black powdercoat isolates the filter from ambient underhood heat to supply the engine with cooler denser air. The 77 Series polished intake tube (77-9029KP) is coupled to the OE components with reinforced silicone hose to absorb engine vibrations. Stainless-steel hose clamps secure parts to one another and black powdercoated steel brackets add additional support.

K&N's High Flow Replacement filter (RF-1048) provides optimal air flow and is backed by K&N's Famous Million Mile Warranty.
