Gage Schoenherr will take his immense water-related talents to the Coast Guard

Jason Newby of Team Faith Racing Ministry said that the team decided to put Schoenherr on a familiar racing platform for round two of the Pro Watercross schedule.

“We basically decided to give him the same package he raced at the Championships since that was the last Sport boat he had ridden,” Newby said.

In the Pro show, Schoenherr got a fantastic start in a stacked field of 17 Pro Sport GP riders. Moto 1 proved to be a race of attrition in the rough conditions. Many of the favorites like Johnny Smith, Bill Dearman, and Andrew Bezan either had boat issues or crashed out of the moto. Schoenherr finished the challenging moto with an impressive 2nd place.

Sunday saw much different conditions. The seas had calmed and the wind subsided. There were relatively flat conditions with the exception of a few breaking wave sets on the front straight before the finish line. In Pro Sport GP Moto 2, Schoenherr finished just off the podium with a hard-charging 4th place finish.

“Gage kept him honest coming in 2nd for a 2-4-2 score for the weekend, which easily gave him the overall win and the championship points lead,” said Newby.

Schoenherr's success in round 2 of the Pro Watercross World Championships is bitter sweet for Team Faith as it will be the last race of the season for the talented rider.

“Our fill-in rider and points leader Gage Schoenherr will not be with us for the rest of the season as he is going into the Coast Guard Academy,” said Newby. “We are very proud of Gage for being one of only 300 people in the US to be accepted to this prestigious institution and we support him fully in his decision to pursue further education and (a) career serving our country in the US Coast Guard. Congratulations Gage on the tremendous honor and opportunity and for going out on top of the Pro Watercross Pro Sport points! God Bless you!”

Team Faith is having huge success on a relatively stock boat

“We have the top scoring watercraft in the class, yet we're still running a stock hull!” says Newby. “That's definitely something we are pretty proud of!"

"Most of the guys winning are on $20k+ machines with lightweight aftermarket hulls," Newby continued. "That's unfortunately something we just can't afford. Our goal, as always, is to be competitive - to show the people we minister to that we are just like them! Yet, we want to be good stewards of the finances that our sponsors and contributors provide us with.”

This year’s bands included a pair of country music groups; LANco and Eli Young Band. Both groups put on an excellent show for the participants. And if you didn’t want to take part in the ride, tickets were available just for the concerts and vendors.

And a thunderous roar it is, with that many bikes riding in the same location at the same time it can be heard for miles around. It is almost a salute to those killed fighting for America. It is events like these that bring our communities together and make us forget what side of the political spectrum we stand on or what religion we belong to and instead stand united.

Andrew Carlson finds himself strapped inside a 3000 lb. truck instead of atop a 400 lb. snowmobile. One might think these are completely different disciplines but Andrew left the first TORC Pro Light race of the year just four points out of first place.

In all fairness, this was not Andrew’s first truck race. While competing in Snocross in the winter, he competed in select Pro Light events since 2015 and before that side-by-side off-road racing starting in 2012.

There was clear promise in Andrew’s abilities as he worked his way up the field as his first season progressed, just missing a podium spot in the penultimate race, and then grabbed a third at the finale.

Saturday’s race wasn’t necessarily the kind of race you write home about. It started well enough, with Andrew setting the second fastest time.

The inverted start meant he had to grid in the middle of the field. With a muddy track full of drivers who haven’t competed for months. Andrew had the advantage, as his skills were sharp from having raced Snocross all winter.

As he wound his way through the field, an unfortunate bump by a competitor sent Andrew on his roof, triggering a full-course yellow. Andrew then fought his way back up the field to finish fifth, salvaging critical championship points.

Even though an opportunity or two presented itself for Andrew to squeeze past Kyle, Andrew was thinking more of the championship and coming out of the event rather than being a hero for the day (with plenty of risk involved).

Andrew took second and was very pleased to be just four points off first at this point in the season. "We couldn't do it without our partners that have supported us from day one," Andrew added.

After the race Andrew admitted that he "had a few opportunities to try to put a pass on Kyle, but I didn’t want to throw away a good finish and the championship points on a track where a wreck was a real possibility.”

To which Jesse replied, “our goal for Chicago was to get on the box, verify our set-up, and position the team for a strong showing in rounds three and four at our home track. I’d say it was mission accomplished.”

"It's really exciting to kick off the season on a high note," commented Andrew. "We're looking forward to getting the #151 K&N Pro Light on the podium again at our home track, ERX Motor Park, in a few weeks." The TORC Series races on a scenic 1.0 mile course at ERX Motor Park in Elk River, Minnesota.

This is Bradley’s first podium finish in his newly debuted Pro 2. He is brand new to this class and with a brand new truck and only after three races he is able to be on the podium in his fourth race. This is such an achievement. He is very excited about this accomplishment and is looking to improve on that and is hoping to be on the top of the podium real soon. So watch for the K&N Filters, Kicker Audio, Fallen Patriots, Autozone Pro 2 and Pro 4 to be on the podium and in the front of the field battling for the win in the upcoming races.
