Serious off-roaders understand the value of a snorkel intake and many would not take on a challenging trek without their Jeep being equipped with one. That’s why K&N developed the 63-1574 AirCharger intake system for 2007 – 2011 Jeep Wranglers with the 3.8L V6 engine.

The 3.8L V6 was based on Chrysler’s 3.3L narrow-angle 60-degree V6 engine, of which nearly 5 million of the smaller displacement engine had been produced. While the 3.8L (230.5 CID) V6 saw duty in various mini-vans, it was installed in only one Jeep model: the 2007 – 2011 JK Wrangler.

The 3.8L V6, code named the EGH, was manufactured in Chrysler’s Trenton, Michigan engine plant. The increase in displacement was achieved by both increasing cylinder bore and crankshaft stroke. The EGH featured a cast iron engine block with forged steel connecting rods and aluminum cylinder heads with a single central camshaft, roller tappets, pushrods, and overhead valves. Fuel delivery was by sequential multiple-port fuel injection.

From 2007-2011, JK Wrangler customers had to make do with the 202 horsepower EGH V6. However, in 2012 Jeep began installation of the Chrysler Pentastar 3.6L V6 engine, which boosted power to 285 horsepower, leaving owners of previous model years over 80 horsepower short of the new models.

The K&N 63-1574 AirCharger system can help. Its snorkel system, which is specifically designed for the JK Jeep Wrangler, features high-flow air ducting that adds an estimated 11.32 horsepower to the 3.8L V6 Jeep. The AirCharger system replaces the entire restrictive factory intake, including ducts and filter. Why? K&N AirCharger systems are designed to dramatically reduce air intake restriction, delivering more fresh air to your engine than the factory air filter assembly. The equation is simple: more fresh, cool air into the engine means more usable power and acceleration throughout the RPM range.

The uniquely designed snorkel system that’s a key component of the K&N 63-1574 AirCharger system brings in outside air from an ideal location to allow you to ride your Jeep hard in extreme off-road conditions. Fresh air is directed through the low-restriction snorkel tubing and into a tough K&N roto-molded air box that contains a RF-1048 7.5-inch K&N high-flow air filter.

An aerodynamically engineered high-density intake tube smooths and straightens the air flow before its fed into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has provisions to install the stock intake air temperature sensor, and engine breather hose. The oversized RF-1048 cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on your driving conditions. And servicing is simple with the K&N 99-5000 filter care service kit.

K&N Intake System Adds Horsepower and Torque to 2014 - 2017 Polaris RZR 1000 UTVs

K&N 63-1133 is designed to improve throttle response and engine sound on Polaris 1000 UTVs

Long known as a manufacturer of snowmobiles and ATVs, just over a decade ago Polaris Industries analyzed the recreational side by side market and through their research determined exactly the kind of machine that would dominate the category. The result was the first of the Ranger RZR series introduced in 2007.

What separated the Polaris RZR from its competitors at the time was that the RZR was sold straight off the dealers' showroom floor with high levels of off-road performance. The Polaris Ranger RZR, typically shortened in conversation to the Polaris RZR, was the first true “out of the box” sport UTV available.

Building upon the success of the original model, Polaris has spent the last decade improving and expanding the RZR product line. A common feature among all RZR models, though, is the disposable (and expensive) pleated paper air filter fitted to the OEM air box. While a disposable paper air filter is efficient at trapping dirt up to a point, it leaves a bit to be desired in terms of performance, longevity, and cost.

Fortunately, K&N Engineering has an answer for Polaris RZR owners looking to upgrade the air intake system of their side by side UTV.

K&N developed the 63-1133 Aircharger® performance air intake systems specifically for select 1000 series RZR models to increase power and torque, as well as reduce maintenance costs. This air intake system is an easy to install, bolt-on upgrade which replaces the entire restrictive original equipment air box and filter.

K&N's Polaris Ranger RZR XP 1000 air intake features a conical air filter and free-flowing aluminum intake tube which deliver air an increased flow of air into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake system also features a custom air box designed to shield the air filters from engine heat. Beyond gains in power the performance air intake kit also improves throttle response and engine sound.

And while initially a little more expensive than the OEM disposable paper filters, the conical K&N air filter is washable and reusable. Further, not only is the filter designed to dramatically reduce intake air restriction but also provides excellent protection from harmful dirt, dust, and contaminants.

K&N Aircharger air intakes for select Polaris RZR models provide increased horsepower and better throttle response. When dyno tested, the Aircharger performance air intake systems increased output by an estimated 3.3 horsepower at the drive wheels.

This air intake is relatively easy to install - taking just 90 minutes or less - using existing factory mounting points and common hand tools.

Jimmie Johnson won his second Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race of the season, and his second in a row at the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway, on Monday. After a rain delay on Sunday, the Food City 500 was rescheduled to Monday and did not break the momentum of Johnson from his win two weeks earlier at the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500.

“Yeah, just a really solid performance all day long, great pit stops,” Johnson said. “Same thing at Texas. I think that was the piece we were lacking to start the season. Don't know why, don't know what it was, but our cars have been very capable of running up front, and it's been nice these last two weeks to execute from the start of the race qualifying. Was saved by the rain this week and the week before. I spun out after I took the flag”.

This was Johnson’s 82nd career win, which puts him within one for sixth place on the all time career wins list. The win was also the second career win for Johnson at Bristol Motor Speedway. Johnson did not lead until the 394th lap of the race, and eventually led three times for a total of 81 laps.

“I know we won here one other time, but I think from a consistency standpoint and competitive standpoint, this is the best we've ever been, and I've been looking and trying to figure this place out, and I've come here with the identical race car that Jeff Gordon wins with, and I run 15th,” Johnson said. “That's where a lot of that emotion came from is more in the personal category today and getting that win”.

Clint Bowyer came in second place, finishing just 1.199 seconds behind Johnson. This was Bowyer’s best finish since finishing in second place in 2013. Bowyer is still looking for his first win since 2012 at Charlotte. This was Bowyer's fourth top 10 finish this season and his 11th at Bristol Motor Speedway.

"You try everything you possibly can, and I was starting to do some pretty desperate things with brakes and my line and stuff like that, and then you just realize...your mindset quickly changes, and you're like, ‘All right, let's put it in perspective here, we've come a long ways, it was a long day, and second place is probably a good run for us, and we should be happy with that.’ We shouldn't hang our head about it."

Kevin Harvick came in third place, who was passed by Bowyer, his teammate, on lap 485.

“We just needed track position,” Harvick said. “I think we showed how fast it was there on no tires and kind of able to hold our own. A good weekend, and we’ll just keep going."

Kyle Larson, who finished in sixth, leads the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Standings with 360 points and 7 playoff points. Chase Elliott is in second place with 333 points. Martin Truex Jr is in third place with 323 points and 10 playoff points. Brad Keselowski, Jimmie Johnson, and Martin Truex Jr are tied for the lead the in the current playoff standings with 10 points.

The next race in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will be at the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

A new year brings a new challenge for the K&N-sponsored Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series driver Bradley Morris. With the season opener for LOORS upon us, Bradley is getting set to battle in two different trucks this season. Bradley is going to be racing in his Pro 4 as well as in a brand new Pro 2. He is set to battle with some new drivers and some familiar ones he raced against in Pro Lite and Trophy Karts.

Bradley’s rookie season in his Pro 4 was also his return to short course off road racing after breaking his neck. It was a brand new truck in a brand new class for Bradley. It wasn’t quite what he was hoping for, as he was expecting to be able to jump back into a truck and be back to his usual ways of being on the podium multiple times in a single weekend. But now Bradley realizes when you are driving against some of the best drivers, it is not likely to happen right away. It took some time to get used to the truck and a completely different style of driving, than the two wheel drive trucks he grew up racing, but he knew he would be able to get comfortable and make it to the podium soon enough.

Then before you knew it, Bradley was battling with the leaders and then finishing on the podium and having multiple top five finishes. Even with him getting faster each race, in the off season there were major changes that were done to the truck, including the team cutting off the back half of the truck and changing all the cooling configurations for weight distribution. With all the testing that Bradley has done with the new design, everything has gone great. Bradley said, “I am very excited about the changes that we made to the Pro 4. It has helped me dramatically with entry into the turns, and keeping all four tires driving the truck forward.”

Along with the Pro 4, Bradley will be debuting his new Pro 2 at the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series season opener in Chandler, Arizona. Bradley grew up racing two wheel drive vehicles starting from the JR Trophy Karts, Modified Karts, Single Buggy, Pro Buggy, and the Pro Lite. Bradley had great success in these classes growing up, and his driving style was very smooth and fast. With the new Pro 2, Bradley will be driving in his natural driving style and is hoping to make great things happen in this class. Bradley said, “ I am very excited to race in a Pro 2, it is something that I have wanted to do since I started racing at age 8. To be able to race in the two premiere classes in short course is crazy. I wanted to thank everyone who has helped me get to this point of my racing career, and the great continual support from K&N Filters, Kicker Audio, and Maxxis Tires.”

Bradley is also excited to possibly be the youngest driver to drive in the Pro 4 and Pro 2 classes at the same time. He was originally the youngest driver in Pro Lite, when he first started which has now been beat, and also the youngest in the Pro 4 where many drivers were skeptical. After racing with him they knew he was going to be a clean driver and not do anything reckless. Growing up, Bradley has always set goals for himself in racing and this year is no exception. Bradley is setting some strong goals which he believes are not out of reach, and those goals are to win a race in each class, but hopefully more, and to be consistently in the top five throughout the year. Bradley believes that K&N Filters is going to be a big part of making that happen, because if his motors don’t get clean air and filtered oil to the motor he will not be able to make the power needed to be up front and to make the motor last an entire race. He said he knows they do their job and can focus on the race even while he is being roosted with dirt and mud. So watch out for Bradley to be a top contender in both the premiere classes in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series this year.

Luke Bogaki won the K&N Spring Fling Million in Las Vegas for the first time in his career.

Luke Bogacki is calling it the biggest win of his career. He won the K&N Spring Fling Million presented by Optima Batteries at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the first time in his career. He had to battle severe wind conditions and a loaded field of 230 drivers to reach the final. He won the K&N Spring Fling by the narrowest of margins.

Bogacki beat Michael Pennington in the final round by 0.0003 seconds. They both had almost identical reaction times. Pennington was two thousandths of second faster off the line at 0.012 seconds. Bogacki left the starting line at 0.014 seconds. Bogacki and Pennington raced neck and neck down the strip with Bogacki winning by a nose.

“That’s kind of typical for the racing that we do,” Bogacki said. “I look at those as coin flips basically. They can go either way.”

Bogacki said he is constantly asked how to win those close races. He says luck plays as much as role as anything.

“It’s a skill to put yourself in that position where the races are close, but it’s just a coin flip,” Bogacki said. “I was fortunate to come out on the right side of it.”

After the race, Bogacki said it took a while for it to sink in that he won.

“I knew when we hit the finish line that it was super close and I was fairly confident that I hit the dial in,” Bogacki said. “It’s one of those where you look up at the scoreboard and hold your breath. It could go either way.”

Luke Bogacki won $230,000 in the K&N Spring Fling Million in Las Vegas.

Pennington has two brothers who also race. Bogacki has met all three in races over the years and they are never easy to beat.

“He’s such an awesome competitor,” Bogacki said. “You kind of expect it. It was no surprise to see him there. Certainly no shock that we had such a close race.”

Bogacki advanced to the quarterfinal round with five other drivers. Val Torres Jr., Bobby Dye Jr., Lane Dicken, Pennington, and Randy Biddle were the other quarterfinalists. Bogacki earned a bye in the semifinals and awaited the winner of the race between Biddle and Pennington.

He was able to earn the bye by having the quickest reaction time of the three winners in the quarterfinals. It also came with a $60,000 bonus.

“I had the best winning reaction time of six cars out of the three winners,” Bogacki said. “The way that shook out, that was the most lucrative single win light by a wide margin.”

Bogacki won $230,000, a trophy, and a limo ride to the Cosmopolitan Hotel on the Strip as part of the Spring Fling championship.

“The margins are razor thin,” Bogacki said. “You get used to winning or losing by a thousandth of a second. In my career, I have accomplished more than I ever dreamed that I would.”

Bogacki said winning the K&N Spring Fling Million was like completing a career grand slam in drag racing. He has won a U.S. Nationals title, an NHRA World Championship, and a Jeg’s All Star event. The Spring Fling Million completes the big four events.

“If there was one bucket list item left to achieve, it was actually winning the Million,” Bogacki said. “It’s the last thing that I have to do. The field is so deep and so strong that you never know when it’s going to happen or if it’s going to happen. I feel that my career is complete and super grateful that it fell together.”

Dangerously high winds postponed qualifying on the Thursday before the elimination rounds. The drivers had a full day of racing to whittle down the field to the final day of races.

The next race for Bogacki is the NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway in May.

The next K&N Spring Fling event is at Galot Motorsports Park in North Carolina.

“I thought it was really special to come out on top of the event in the K&N Filters dragster at the K&N Spring Fling Million,” Bogacki said. “They just do so much. Forget what they do for me and my race team, they do so much for the sport and drag racing. Case in point, sponsoring that event. It’s just an honor on my end just to represent them.”
